Incidents and accidents
Classroom management along with good discipline is an essential part of supply teaching. A firm but fair and consistent approach is advised. Occasionally situations may occur that have the potential to place you in a compromising position and it is essential that you follow strict guidelines to ensure this doesn’t happen.
Day to Day Teachers recommends that if an incident occurs that you are unable to deal with ASK FOR HELP from another member of staff. Do not leave a class unattended to do this, your pupils are your responsibility; where appropriate send another pupil to get additional assistance.
At Day to Day we operate a strict policy that you are NEVER to touch a pupil in any way. This is to protect you as much as to protect the child.
Do not prod, poke, push, smack or physically touch a child, it is not allowed.
We strongly recommend that you ask the client for their policy regarding accidents, emergencies and incidents and familiarise yourself with this prior to beginning your assignment.
