On the 29th October our Portsmouth branch held it's first teacher forum on Classroom Management.
The aim of hosting teacher forums is to support our teachers, offer some CPD (Continual Professional Development) and demonstrate our appreciation of what our teachers do. We understand that supply teaching is a different entity to teaching from the foundation of a permanent position in a school. The majority of differences are due to the lack of a professional relationship with pupils and work colleagues, lack of appreciation of school policies and their implementation and lack of knowledge of the school in general.
We aim to bridge that gap as wisely as possible. One of the vehicles we use to do this is the 'teacher forum' where relevant topics are presented and discussed by the supply teachers themselves. Hopefully this results in some interesting idea's that can be shared and utilised in the classroom.
